You will be working regular work shifts close to your own home area. Work is carried out mainly in two shifts during weekdays, which means that there will be a balance between working time and your valuable time off. At L&T, you are more than a driver who transports waste—you will be working for a better tomorrow. You will be transporting a valuable load that does not end up in the landfill and will be recycled. You will also have the freedom to influence the driving route and emptying of the load during each shift. You get to show off your driving skills in difficult locations, demonstrate how to take good care of the equipment and how to encounter people in different daily situations.

Truck Drivers work at L&T

  1. Independent collection of waste as a driver or as a driver's partner on an agreed transport route

  2. Requires a C driver's license, valid driver's professional competence, and driving experience

  3. Physically demanding, as there are hundreds of waste containers to be emptied or loading and unloading of the cargo

  4. Requires a service-oriented attitude, as the work is carried out in tight customer locations and traffic congestion

  5. Modern equipment and tools with vehicle terminals and smartphones are provided

  6. Comprehensive training is provided to support the correct and safe working and driving methods

Truck Driver or Waste Truck Driver

Common tasks
  • Emptying waste containers alone or with a partner in a pre-designed area, using a predetermined driving route
  • Assessing the quality of collected waste and marking it on the vehicle terminal
  • Transporting the collected waste to the agreed further treatment
  • Ensuring environmentally friendly driving practices
  • Ensuring work safety

Working hours and shifts
  • Usually full-time, two-shift work with a focus on morning and/or evening shifts
  • Shifts are scheduled between 6 am and 10 pm
  • Work may also be required on weekends during public holiday weeks
Driver's license
  • Requires a C driver's license and a valid professional competence
Language skills
  • Often requires proficiency in Finnish
Previous experience/education
  • Requires transportation training and previous experience

Cable Lift Demountable or Hooklift  Truck Driver

Common tasks
  • Transporting swap containers or compactors for recycling, emptying them, and delivering them to the customer.
  • The work may also include emptying deep containers.
  • Utilizing the pre-designed driving route and, if necessary, performing individual emptying tasks.
  • Assessing the quality of waste and marking it on the vehicle terminal.
  • Ensuring environmentally friendly driving practices.
  • Ensuring work safety.

  • Cable lift demountable or hooklift  truck
  • Vehicle terminal and smartphone
  • Workwear and other equipment that promote work safety
Working hours and shifts
  • Usually full-time, two-shift work with a focus on morning and/or evening shifts.

Parcelled Cargo Vehicle Driver or Box Truck Driver

Common tasks
  • Transportation of piece goods and waste containers (e.g., confidential materials and hazardous waste) in a predefined area.
  • Loading and unloading of cargo at the customer's location and at the terminal/facility.
  • Customer service during pick-ups.
  • Utilization of a pre-designed driving route.
  • Assessing the quality of waste and marking it on the vehicle terminal.
  • Ensuring environmentally friendly driving practices.
  • Ensuring work safety.
  • Occasionally, various warehouse tasks at the terminal/facility.
Equipments
  • Piece goods vehicle or combination vehicle
  • Vehicle terminal and smartphone.
  • Workwear and other equipment that promote work safety.
Working hours and shifts
  • Usually full-time day work.
  • In the future, two-shift work may also be possible. In that case, shifts are scheduled between 6 am and 10 pm.
  • Work may also be required on weekends during public holiday weeks.
Driver's license
  • Requires a C driver's license and a valid professional competence.
Language skills
  • Often requires proficiency in Finnish.
Previous experience/education
  • Requires transportation training and previous experience.

Special Truck Driver

Common tasks
  • Transporting special equipment to customer sites and using the equipment on-site.
  • Tasks specific to the specialization area at the customer site: 
    a) Sewage work, such as emptying septic tanks and various separators, opening and flushing sewers, and cleaning work. 
    b) Industrial cleaning work, such as high-pressure washing or high-power vacuuming.
  • Collection and transportation of hazardous waste to the terminal, customer service during pick-ups, and tasks at the terminal.
  • Maintenance of equipment at the depot.
  • Ensuring environmentally friendly driving practices.
  • Ensuring work safety.
Equipments
  • Special purpose truck.
  • Vehicle terminal and smartphone.
  • Workwear and other equipment that promote work safety.
Working hours and shifts
  • Usually full-time day work.
Driver's license
  • Requires a C driver's license, a valid professional competence, and an ARD driving permit.
Language skills
  • Proficiency in Finnish is required.
Previous experience/education
  • Requires transportation training and previous experience.
  • Additional benefits may include a digital tachograph, road safety, and/or work safety cards, as well as forklift driving experience.
