Climate change mitigation
Mitigating climate change is something that concerns us all. At L&T, we aim to set an example also for our partners. Our goal is to achieve net zero emissions in our own operations and across the entire value chain by 2045. The services we provide help reduce emissions and promote the recycling of materials.
L&T's operations save the same amount of emissions per year as 39,000 Finns produce.
The goal is to increase the carbon handprint
A carbon handprint indicates how much a company has been able to avoid emissions and climate impacts in its value chain and wider society through the products, services and solutions it provides. L&T’s carbon handprint is generated through the services delivered to customers. Our goal is to continuously increase the positive climate impact of our operations.
We are aiming for a net zero emissions goal by 2045
L&T’s strategic objective is to reduce emissions generated from our own operations and across the entire value chain (Scopes 1, 2 and 3) by 90% from the 2020 baseline by 2045. Achieving these reductions requires closer collaboration with partners across the entire value chain.
In the first phase, our actions focus particularly on reducing emissions from subcontracted transport and promoting the recycling of raw materials.
The measures we use to reduce our own emissions
About 97 % of L&T's operational emissions come from transportation.
Fleet renewal
L&T operates 91 heavy‑duty vehicles that run on either biogas or electricity.
Economical driving style
We train our drivers in a proactive driving style and monitor consumption with driving style monitoring equipment.
Route optimization
We do continuous route planning. With the help of planning, we have been able to streamline our operations and reduce emissions, driving kilometers and working hours.
Renewable fuels
28% of the diesel used by L&T has been replaced with HVO produced from renewable raw materials.
