Double Materiality Analysis

Double materiality guides our sustainability work and determines which topics related to the environment, society and governance are most relevant for us.

L&T’s double materiality

Double materiality determines which sustainability topics are most relevant for us. We assess both the impacts of our operations on the environment and society, as well as how sustainability-related factors affect our business. We identify and evaluate impacts, risks and opportunities from the perspective of business operations and stakeholders.

Assessment updated annually

The double materiality assessment is mainly carried out as internal expert work. The process is based on European sustainability standards, covering all relevant sustainability topics and sub-areas. The assessment includes all group companies in Finland and Sweden. For the value chain, the review extends to our own operations, contractual relationships with suppliers, waste management partners and customers.

L&T collects key stakeholder views on material topics, for example through targeted interviews. Stakeholders are asked to assess the importance of topics and their perspectives are considered in scoring. L&T’s double materiality assessment is approved by the Board of Directors.
